Certification Categories

The Certification Categories define the compliance levels under the IRESS 2026 International Residential EMF Safety Standard. Each level reflects the overall EMF safety performance of a residential property based on measured internal and external electromagnetic field conditions.
Categories are assigned strictly on the basis of measured or assessed exposure data and documented evaluation results, following the IRESS 2026 Measurement Definitions and assessment frameworks.

Compliance Levels

Ultra-Safe Property — Exceptional Compliance
This level represents outstanding EMF performance. Measured or assessed exposure levels are exceptionally low across all relevant frequency ranges.

  • Optimal distances from internal EMF sources

  • No significant nearby external EMF sources

  • Exposure levels approach natural background conditions where feasible

  • Highly suitable for EMF-sensitive occupants and wellness-focused residential use

Safe Property — Advanced Compliance
Properties in this category demonstrate strong EMF conditions, with all core safety requirements effectively met.

  • Well-controlled internal EMF sources

  • Managed external exposure within defined limits

  • Consistently low levels in occupied zones

  • Suitable for everyday residential living and health-conscious occupants

Standard Property — Acceptable Compliance
This category represents a normal residential EMF environment that is fully acceptable under the IRESS 2026 Standard.

  • All mandatory safety thresholds are met

  • No critical exposure exceedances

  • EMF conditions comparable to conventional residential environments

Non-Compliant Property
Properties in this category do not meet the minimum IRESS 2026 requirements. Significant EMF-related issues are present and must be corrected before certification can be issued.

  • One or more defined limits are exceeded

  • Uncontrolled internal or external EMF sources

  • Mitigation and reassessment are required

Category Determination

The compliance level is determined by evaluating the worst-case relevant measurements or assessments within occupied zones, considering both internal and external EMF contributions.

A property is assigned the highest compliance level for which it fully satisfies all criteria. Partial compliance does not qualify for a higher category.

Certification Status

Only properties classified as Standard Property, Safe Property, or Ultra-Safe Property are eligible for IRESS 2026 certification.
Properties classified as Non-Compliant must undergo corrective actions and reassessment before certification can be granted.
